Bought this along with Chris Doyle's other book: The Sailors Guide to the Windward Islands. I was initially expecting this anchorage book to be a good complement to the Sailors Guide. However, this book actually contains less information than the Sailor's Guide.

For example, each anchorage in Sailors Guide has a cartoon map AND a photo of the anchorage.
The same anchorages in the Windward Anchorages guide actually have ONLY the photo and no map. I can see this as a nice coffee table book, but can't imagine it would be that useful to have a photo without depth data and obstacle information.

If you need one book, but Sailors Guide, which has everything in this one and more.
If you need a coffee table book or like nice large photos of anchorages, buy this one.

Certainly, don't buy both! Mine is being returned tomorrow.

A must buy for anyone in retail!

I work in retail and I deal with upset and stressed out customers on a nearly daily basis. This book is a lifesaver. It gives to the point advice about how to deal with a wide variety of possible problems that come up in customer interactions and help you take control over the situation. The title really doesn't do it justice. It doesn't speak to the breadth of information the book contains. I highly recommend it and for under $10 it will repay you in a less stressful work environment.

There is a sexual s&M world that exists only in the imagination, and Aran Ashe is particularly adapt at showing us that world. Citadel of Servitude is written in the Gorian style, complete with a language that suggests medieval Europe where Doms and Dommes have unlimited noble rights upon the common classes. They and their guards exercise these rights upon captive women and the occasional captive male with sexual abandon, blow by blow, page by page. The story begins with naked captive women, arms locked behind them, breasts outstretched, marching through the city gate. Common Men and women run to see the display, mostly lusting, before the women disappear into the mysterious citadel. There is a plot, much like that found in East of Eden, the plot similarly a backdrop against which the sexually improbably is played - repeatedly - the captives surrealistically begging for more after hours of captive abuse. Some dream this while others of us wish for a greater sense of reality. Still, fantasy is more about dreams than reality, and on this level, Citadel of Servitude is near the head of its class, well written and well paced.

I have read three other Aran Ashe books. I did not like them. However with this book s/he surprised me. It is without doubt the most stylishly written, kinkily erotic book I have ever read. Most erotic novels tend to be formulaic repeats, but Ashe shows an imaginative quality here, seldom found in these books. Hir deft grasp of detail adds to the heat and produces a tome which by now is well-thumbed.

The novel is tastefully done and, unlike many in the genre, can appeal to both men and women. Part of its appeal is that the language is not crude, and the situations--though S&M/B&D in nature--are not overtly violent or degrading as so many novels of this type tend to be. For someone who is curious about S&M/B&D, this is a palatable foray into the topic. A highly "entertaining" read.
