Families, Schools, & Communities ~ Building Partnership for Educating Children, 5th Edition
By Jane Jones
Families, Schools, and Communities: Building Partnership for Educating Children, 5th Edition is a book that I borrowed from a friend that used it as a college text. I read the chapters on Family Diversity, Roles and Experiences of Parents and Establishing and Maintaining Collaborative Relationships completely and the rest of the book I read parts of each chapter to help me with building better parent relations of the children that I teach. I found the book a good refresher and found several new ideas and different prospective of looking at building relationships with parents to help my students. This not a novel but a good reference book for teacher's and a college students entering teaching. It is written with the college student in mind but worked fine as a refresher for me, as an experienced teacher.

Interesting Book
By Amazon Customer
I bought this book because it was required for my class. It is well written and actually interesting. It gives strategies to help the school, community and parents work together. I did not give it all five stars because I wish that it had given even more strategies for working together. The authors covered the three areas of the home, school and community efficiently and completely. It is the most unbiased text in this area of study that I have found. Even homeschooling was covered in an unbiased and positive manner, accurately listing the pros and cons of the practice. Overall I was surprised to find a text that was actually readable and informative. While I wouldn't sit down and read this for pleasure, if I had to read a school text, this would be one I would choose to read.
