About the Author
William Thomas Allison is Professor of History Georgia Southern University. He earned his Ph.D. in history at Bowling Green State University in 1995, and has taught as Visiting Professor at the Air War College and the School for Advanced Air and Space Studies. He is author of Military Justice in Vietnam: The Rule of Law in an American War (Kansas, 2007), The Tet Offensive (Routledge, 2008), My Lai: An American Tragedy (Johns Hopkins, 2012), and The Gulf War, 1991 (Palgrave, 2012), among other works. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Military History and as a member of the Department of the Army Historical Advisory Committee.

Jeffrey G. Grey is Professor of History in the School for Humanities and Social Sciences at the Australian Defence Force Academy. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of New South Wales in 1986, and has held several professorships, including the Major General Matthew C. Horner Chair of Military Theory at the United States Marine Corps University. His numerous publications include The Commonwealth Armies and the Korean War: An Alliance Study (Manchester, 1988), A Military History of Australia (Cambridge, 1990), Australian Brass: The Career of Lieutenant General Sir Horace Robertson (Cambridge University Press, 1992), 'Up Top': The Royal Australian Navy in Southeast Asian Conflicts 1955-1972 (Allen & Unwin, 1998), The Australian Army: Volume I: The Australian Centenary History of Defence (Oxford, 2006), as well as several authored and co-authored volumes on Australian military history for the Australian Army History Unit and Australian Military History Publishing. He has served as a trustee for the Society for Military History and on the editorial boards of the Journal of the Australian War Memorial, Journal of Military History, Scientia Militaria, War in History, and Australian Army Journal, and is editor for the journal War and Society.

Janet G. Valentine is Assistant Professor in the Department of Military History at the United States Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Alabama in 2002 and has worked as a historian for the United States Army Center of Military History, the Air National Guard History Office, and the Joint History Office. She has served on the advisory board for H-WAR and the editorial board of the Journal of Military History. She taught at the University of North Florida and Mississippi State University. Her current research focuses on the Korean War, and citizenship and military obligation.

Good enough to be used as a textbook, which it is

Had to get this book for an American Military History class. With all required textbooks, I was expecting your every day run of the mill regurgitated info, but this book proved all those notions wrong and is a pleasant read. There are lots of facts and history that are relatively obscure and the book goes back to the early 1600's. A very worthy book for people with a serious interest in American Military History.

It's a Textbook

For American Military History. No surprises there.

HOWEVER, be aware Kindle Fire users, that every page on this book will have to be resized so you can read the text. And if you load it on your Fire and then on a desktop so you can read it, that's as many devices as you can put it on. If you want to put it on a tablet so you can read it, you will have to uninstall it from one of the other devices and DEREGISTER the device. What that means is your Kindle (or any other device) won't be recognized as yours anymore by Amazon. It's not good enough for the publisher that you've removed it; you have to divorce your device from your account.

Not a happy college student. I will recommend that the instructor find a different book for his future classes.

Good book, tough to read.

I'm reading "American Military History" for a military history class. I do enjoy the book. It's a good survey of American military history. Accessing the book has been a real headache. I'm running Windows 8 and this book is not available on Kindle for Windows 8. Kindle for PC is unstable on Windows 8, and it keeps crashing, even in various compatibility modes. I am reading it on my Kindle Fire 8.9. It works fine on my kindle, but would be much easier to read on my laptop.

About the Author
Marielle Frigge is a professor emerita in religious studies and philosophy at Mount Marty College and associate editor of the American Benedictine Review. She received her doctorate in theology and education, with specialization in Scripture and systematic theology, from Boston College. Frigge continues teaching for her own and other monasteries as well as various churches, ecumenical groups, and lay ministry programs. She has written "Scripture Insights" for At Home with the Word and is currently writing for the Lector's Workbook, published by Liturgy Training Publications.

I think this book is an awesome addition to the medical library. Bedside and clinical teaching is one of the things that no one can tell you how to approach and no one has a clue. It seems that role modeling is the preferred approach rather than systematically looking for what works.

It was nice to realize someone has tackled this issue and collected in one place all the literature and experience of what works in teaching.
A nice read a little put down by the extended narrative style I think It can be made simpler and direct.
The case examples could also be made more practical I think if I do that much pathophysiological explaining in rounds everybody will be bored,especially upper levels, but this is just my opinion I think more emphasis on decision making is what I will be doing.
Overall I loved the book I would strongly suggest it to new starting faculty.

Over-delivers, one to keep nearby and refer to again and again

I’ve been an avid reader of Ben’s emails for about a year (seriously, do yourself a favor and get on his list - [...] - for an entertaining education in email marketing / copywriting every weekday) and I was pleased to find that he was a believer and produced this book so I snagged it quick.

Christian Business Secrets is a great example of how someone can publish a quality book on a topic that they are passionate about. It’s simply a collection of transcribed interviews done with successful Christian business people. It’s a bit of a different kind of read but it flows along just fine. The main point is the quality of the content. It was actually kind of refreshing to feel like you’re a fly on the wall listening in on a conversation. I, for one, would be interested in listening to an audiobook version.

One of the things I most appreciated about this book was how it introduced me to so many Christians in business that I wasn’t aware of. I’ve ended up (gladly) joining their email lists, reading their blog posts and listening to their podcasts as a result.

This is a book I’ll definitely refer to in the future. There is so much to ponder and take action on and worth WAY more than the small cost.

Ben Settle does it again

I just want to say that "this book is amazing"
When I first read Ben Settle's email, I thought he is an obnoxious guy but then slowly as I got to know his style, I fell in love with it.
Infact, the first book I purchased from him "crackerjack selling secrets" was my introduction to the real marketing and copywriting.

I then purchased some of his other books and liked almost all of them.
But this book is different, if you are looking for copywriting and marketing education, then stay away from it but if you are looking for real life education, then this is the right choice for you.

This book is literally eye-opener for me. I am not an atheist by any means. After reading this book, I could see the different side of Ben Settle and some of his business friends. I would have never believed what was shared but due to hardships, struggles in my own life and my epiphanies and breakthroughs, I could see that whatever shared in the book is completely authentic and true.

If you are atheist, I would encourage you to buy this book, your view towards life and business will change forever.

Lots to think about

I am still working my way through the first chapter (interview) but already I have found multiple points that have refined my own definition of how and why I am in business.
As an example, the first takeaway for me was - if you are bringing a truly christian philosophy to bear on your business then you are a threat to our enemy and thus strong prayer support is not a luxury but a necessity.
There are quite a few of the usual points (at least for Ben) on business operations (eg. service before honor) - on the whole my only disappointment is that it isn't longer :-)
